2007-10-03 - 12:45 p.m. ...cat behavior... Even though K and I are not rain people, Mizzy clearly is. She is racing through the house and meowing at us, and just started doing "the loop:" out the back door. leap up onto roof. circumnavigate house. do FLYING CAT routine - limbs sprawling in all directions - down onto front porch. climb through cat door with a small "mrphing" sound to K. Race to the back of house to me. make loud cat-siren-like sound as beg to get out. repeat. Mizzy likes to eat zucchini. I mean she REALLY likes it. The minute the zucchini hits the stove, she's here sniffing the air. She can barely wait for the stuff to cool once it's out of the steamer. She grabs it and shakes her head around like she's disemboweling a small green zucchini-shaped rodent. When she's not truly hungry, she leaves zucchini entrails all over the kitchen floor. I prefer zucchini entrails to whatever entrails she otherwise might find in the garden. Lyra is not so keen on zucchini and can pass on it after one small piece in a 'no thanks, I'm trying to cut down' kind of way. Her passions are plain yogurt and sour cream. Both cats like to talk. As in, I pose a question, and they meow back. They are so consistent in this behavior that it can be unnervingly human. Lyra will carry on full conversations using a diverse vocabulary of sounds. At other times, she is content with a short "MEP." Mizzy on the other hand, is the Doppler cat. She meows while running, making a sound that's a bit like a high-pitched siren as she approaches her destination. Honestly, we do not need television. leave a note
