...remembering...

My first thought was gratitude - for a holiday from having to scramble together yet another lecture.

My second thought was cynical - how remembrance can easily be taken over by blind patriotism rather than focusing on the purpose of remembering the people who have shouldered a tremendous burden.

And my third thought finally reached the point - thinking about the loss from wars, honoring, and being thankful for people who have done and who are doing a job that I would never want to do. I wish that a day like this were not necessary, and that we did not send our youth off to wars.
