2010-02-12 - 3:30 a.m. ....equestrian torches... Yesterday Bada and Susi came up to work with me to watch the Olympic torch on its run across Mountain University. Bada was extremely excited. Actually, so was Susi (although in her case she gets excited anytime she gets on the skytrain.) We dressed Susi in her yellow rainsuite and walked in the cold rain over to the road where the torch was coming through. We waited and waited...in the rain. cold. rain. At last, we saw the cocacola and bank sponsor trucks blasting up the hill in front of a guy dressed in olympic white with the tell-tale blue/green colors. (He looked vaguely like the michelin man). I lifted up Susi and told her that the Torch is coming! She looked down the wrote and repeated, "Horse coming! Horse coming!" And once it was past, "Horse all gone? Where Horse go?" Here's one that will be repeated to her for the rest of her life. We walked back in the pouring rain. Wait. I walked back, carrying Susi, who refused to walk. Bada helped along the way, but only partly as Susi was determined to make the trip in Mama's arms. Ugh. We made it back to the office amidst uncomfortable cries. Fifteen minutes cuddled up on my lap in my office chair under a blankie with pup and a piece of bread was sufficient to get her on the go again, and so Bada and Susi went off to play in the fountain. Yes, the time stamp on this entry is three friggin' thirty. More insomnia. I don't get it. leave a note
