a good day (REALLY!)

Today I lasted 13 hours at the college. And yet I think I can describe it as a good day!

Without boring you with all of the details, I'll hit the highlight. I was invited to attend a climate workshop in Colorado, and furthermore I was asked to be the keynote, lead speaker! And, I don't even KNOW the organizers. I was so proud of myself for this. My department will pay for the trip (as long as it remains under $500), and now I must prepare the talk. But wow. so nice to be well thought of. I will for the letter to Herr Dr. Chairman first thing tomorrow.

Yes, more details - the remnants of hurricane jeanne is upon us and it makes me want to sleep for most of tomorrow...but even hurricane remnants are beginning to grow on me at the moment.
