2006-08-12 - 10:37 a.m. ..cat excitement... And for my second entry of the day...earlier this week we had a renegade cat incident. I started to get suspicious when I hadn't seen Lyra for about 24 hours, and Mizzy (the submissive fur) underwent a complete personality change. When Mizzy became too happy, I knew that Lyra was gone. So by the following evening K and I were rummaging through the whole apartment with pastrami in our hands trying to find her (and meanwhile Mizzy was enthusiastically glued to my heels, "HERE I AM! HERE I AM! I'LL TAKE THE PASTRAMI PLEASE PLEASE HERE ME!"). K started to call from the balcony and heard this plaintive little mew from the street down below, where we discovered Lyra hiding in a bush in front of the house. Lyra had experienced her first scrape with a neighborhood bully cat. She had a small scratch on her nose, and bigger scratches on her tail and back legs (indicating that she was moving in the right direction when she got them, if you ask me...)... We were able to retrieve her after only a little bit of effort, but the poor girl was clearly scared out of her wits. We think that she somehow escaped via the roof and scaled the wall before being abused by neighborhood feline flunkies. Poor thing. She cowered in a corner of the closet like an errant school child for an entire day before she decided that things were okay again (as evidenced by this morning's very loud begging for breakfast). leave a note
