2006-11-24 - 7:08 a.m. my non-thanksgiving Yesterday I experienced another meltdown as I entered the next stage of trying to recover what was lost. It has become clear that neither my new office nor my new laboratories are secure. I came in this week to find the doors standing open. I lost it when I got condescending and unhelpful email responses from the insurance office guy. I mean, really off-the-cuff and patronizing: "are you sure you haven't just put those samples somewhere?" Of course, both the chair and dean's office have said "huh, he's normally a good guy." uh huh. Well that expression can mean a lot of things. I am especially unimpressed that the university expects me to put a $60,000 computer lab into a room that is regularly left open by university staff - and that there are windows open to the main corridor so that everyone can see the equipment. This is going to be another long drawn out battle. I remain unimpressed. So I spent this thanksgiving crying in a heap on the steps up to our bedroom. leave a note
