..a lovely day...

K and I had a glorious day yesterday. After a lovely run in the park, K went to a computer fair while I went down to a medical lab in Chinatown. We met up at Science World and walked around in the bright sunlight.

Since we expect several visitors this summer, we have finally decided that we should invest in a proper sofa bed. We made the local sofa bed shops the focal points of our walk, doing a loop around false creek, across the granville bridge, through yuppy central (Yaletown) and then home on the Sky Train. Vancouver is such an easy city for walking.

We sat on MANY sofas yesterday, and finally found one that is perfect, at a 'sofa design' shop in Yaletown. And lo and behold, the designer sofa's name is "Teranika." It was a sign. We are probably going to buy a sofa named teranika.

The saleslady was a little unusual, in the first place because she didn't really know the measurements of the sofa or the bed inside it...and also because she brought her pug dog with her to the store. The pug spent the whole time jumping on and off the sofas, barking at customers, and begging for attention. She was extremely cute...but K and I both wondered if it was at all odd to have a dog jumping all over floor models that you are in the process of selling. ?? Apparently not?

So after exploring a lot of furniture, we splurged on ourselves at a locally famous oyster bar, enjoying oysters and champagne. It was truly decadent and wonderful, a lovely day of walking, talking, shopping, and enjoying each other's company.

RUNNING REPORT: K and I are completing 40 mins of 5 min interval walk/run cycles with relative ease, even over the snow and ice. We've been at it for 2 1/2 weeks now, and are now faced with integrating this program with my class schedule (which may not be so easy...).
