...the new nanny's first day...

Today was Nanny's first day. K and I accidentally slept in an hour, which meant a mad scurry to clean and straighten the house before she arrived. And of course, then when she DID arrive, I was pumping. Might as well be completely exposed to everything right away..so to speak.

K and I both really really like her. She's adult, she's cheerful, she's mature, she's bubbly, she wants to be an academic. All very very good things. She's also a former baby swimming instructor, and really wants to take Susi swimming. I'm thrilled! I so want Susi to learn to swim as early as possible - or rather, I want her to be comfortable in the water, whether or not she's practicing backstrokes.

We are also learning as employers, too. This time around, we have asked Nanny to help with Susi's food preparation, dishes, and diaper laundering - while Susi is napping, of course.

Anyway, it was a very full day for me, showing her everything and taking the time to get to know her. But it is really worth it to know who is caring for Susi, and to have the peace of mind that comes with knowing that person well. I think that Susi will be in good hands.
