...stuck in her thumb and pulled out aplomb? hee hee, always wanted to type that pun....

Our lives are a whirlwind of activity and we are ridin' that whirlwind, boy.

On Friday our mortgage was approved which means we are headed directly down that road to full and complete cashtration.

This week we will be measuring rooms, photographing stuff, filing deficiency reports, hiring movers and cleaners. We will also buy and sell major appliances. It's all very exciting and amazingly mundane and normal at the same time.

Meanwhile, K and I are feeling horrible withdrawal for our current place. We knew all along that we would never get a place like this again - the views, the location, the splendid and beautiful porches. Last night K and I slept outside on the top porch under the stars. I saw two huge fireballs shoot across the sky. We've never really slept out there before, at first because the porch was dilapidated for the first two years we were here, and then because we never thought about it. Now that we'll never be able to do it again....we're sleeping out under the stars in Vancouver August nights.

Sigh.

I have to keep remembering the rowdy park nights, how much I hate Dirty Old Clawfoot, Laundry schedules, and Obsessive-compulsive painters.

Nope, it's not working. We're gonna miss this place.

Yesterday our other neighbors were all out in their gardens. I got a sack full of mint from the lady to the west. We got multiple KILOS of plums for the neighbors to the east. K is ecstatic! I spent yesterday afternoon carving up plums in the kitchen so that we could make jars and jars of plum jam! I don't even really EAT jam. But K is sooo excited about it. And it's kind of fun to do it. Makes you feel like you are making your own, wonderful food and squirreling it away for winter. I get that.

Okay, time to get back to work, before I have to go home and face more plums.
